Dacheng partner Gao Meili, on special invitation from the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS), participated in the 21th HKICS members’ seminar for continued professional development, held in Qingdao from the 19th to the 20th May 2011, on the subject of “M&A and Corporate Sustainable Development”. Over 100 secretaries and executives from almost 50 companies in the domestic H stock and A+H stock attended the seminar. Among those invited to give specialized lectures were relevant personnel from such organizations as the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Kearney Management Consulting Firm, Barclays Capital, Dacheng Law Offices, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Protiviti Management Consulting Company.

Gao Meili, accepting the invitation, gave a talk entitled “Corporate M&A Due Diligence and Effective Risk Avoidance”. She also accompanied the Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Company Secretaries and three other distinguished guests in giving an on-the-spot discussion and review of the study “Merger Control, Consolidation and Harmonious Development”, a joint project between China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines, introduced by the secretary to the Board of Directors of China Eastern. For her participation Gao Meili received favorable review from both the organizers and attending guests alike.

Recently the Hong Kong Institute of Company Secretaries reported the results of the secret ballot voted on by the audience of 21th members’ seminar to rate the performance of the speakers. Gao Meili’s performance in all three indicators (“knowledge, organization and fluency”) received the highest grade, for which she was again thanked by HKICS.
