Dacheng Attorney Delivers Speech at the Annual Meeting of Asia Competition Association

Recently, partner Dai Jianmin from the international practice of Dacheng’s Shanghai office attended the annual meeting of Asia Competition Association upon invitation, where he delivered a speech entitled “More Economic Analysis: Observation from Latest Merger Review Practice by MOFCOM” in English. His speech was applauded unanimously at the meeting.

The meeting, held in September at the Presidential Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, was hosted by Asian Competition Association and co-sponsored by Institute of Industrial Organization of South Korea, Competition Forum of South Korea, Competition Law Association of South Korea and Economic Law Association of South Korea. Over a hundred people were present, including anti-trust experts and government officials from South Korea and Japan, leaders and staff from China’s Ministry of Commerce and State Administration for Industry & Commerce, scholars from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Hunan University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics as well as experts from foreign universities such as Seoul National University.

The meeting was divided into four sessionswith distinctive subjects, namely, “Enforcers’Roundtable”, “Trends in Cartel Regulation”, “Recent Developments in Merger Regulation from an Economic Perspective” and “Abuse of Dominance in a Global Context”.

Attorney Dai delivered a keynote speech in the third session and acted as host for the fourth session. He introduced to the audience recent developments in China’s antitrust law and trends in its enforcement and discussed the most intricate issues in China’s antitrust law enforcement with Hoil Yoon, chairman of Asian Competition Association, Greg Slater, general counsel on competition and trade policies of Intel Corporation and antitrust attorneys from a number of well-known Korean law firms. Theirdiscussion ranged from minimum resale price maintenance, antitrust civil actions to the relationship between antitrust law and intellectual property and others.

Attorney Dai’s participationin the meeting furthur enhanced Dacheng’s reputation and influence in the international area, especially in relation to the practice area of antitrust and competition law.
