At the Third Plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, pushing forward the rule of law and deepening judicial reform has been one of the major themes. The People’s Procuratorate of Beijing thus appointed special supervisors to oversee the public prosecutors’ work. The appointment aims to build a sound mechanism for the exercise of power, promote judicial transparency and justice, improve prosecutors’ credibility in law enforcement and ultimately serve the people’s best interests. The appointed supervisors would serve a five-year term.
On November 22 2013, Dacheng senior partner Miao Qian was appointed as special supervisor and spoke on behalf of all appointees. Mr. Miao is also a deputy to Beijing Municipal People’s Congress and an honoree of National Outstanding Lawyer.
