Posting Date: 2014.03.13

On March 3-12 2014, Mr. Peng Xuefeng, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of Dacheng, attended the 2nd session of the 12th CPPCC National Committee and the 5th session of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee. Mr. Peng submitted five proposals to the Committee, including subjecting China’s petition system to the rule of law and the establishment of a legal framework for anti-terrorism.

On the morning of March 6, Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, participated in a cross-group CPPCC conference. At the conference, Mr. Peng delivered a keynote speech on behalf of non-Party personages. He voiced his opinions and suggestions for fostering a new round of judicial system reform, which he thought should be materialized by preventing local officials from influencing the exercise of judicial power, eliminating administrative intervention in the judicial system and fully tapping the functional role of lawyers. His speech was highly regarded by participating leaders and fellow members.
