Dacheng Attorney Appointed the Only Chinese Arbitrator for 2014 Incheon Asian Games

In January 2014, Court of Arbitration for Sport (“CAS”) officially appointed Dacheng senior partner Liu Chi as arbitrator for a temporary court to be established by CAS in Incheon, the host city of the 17th Asian Games that would take place from September 15 to October 5. Mr. Liu is the only arbitrator from China.

Mr. Liu had served as the only Chinese arbitrator in a CAS temporary court of twelve during 2008 Beijing Olympic Games; In 2010 Winter Olympic Games, he was the only one from Asia amongst the eight arbitrators of a CAS temporary court set up in Vancouver. He is the first Chinese arbitrator appointed to serve both summer and winter Olympic Games.

Mr. Liu has acted as arbitrator at China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”). He has been the only Asian member of the adjudicatory chamber of FIFA (International Football Federation) Ethics Committee, the only Asian sitting on the nine-member appeals panel of FIBA (International Basketball Federation) and the vice-chairman of the five-member arbitral tribunal of FIVB (International Volleyball Federation). He is experienced in a variety of practice areas, including foreign investment, sports, entertainment, media and dispute resolution.
