Beijing Lawyers Cultural Tour Kicks Off at Dacheng

On October 17 2014, Beijing Lawyers Cultural Tour initiated by Beijing Lawyers Association kicked off at Dacheng, the first stop of the tour. Follow-up events would be held at Tian Yuan Law Firm, King & Wood Mallesons, King & Capital, Yingke Law Firm, Jun He, and Sunshine Law Firm. 

Liu Jun, deputy secretary general of Beijing Lawyers Association, Han Yinghui, vice president of the council of Beijing Xicheng Lawyers Association, Lv Debao, council member of Beijing Xicheng Lawyers Association, counterparts from the above law firms and a few journalists were invited to the event. 

Senior partner Yu Xugang delivered a welcoming speech to the participants on behalf of Dacheng. With Gao Meili, editor-in-chief of “Dacheng Life”, acting as hostess, attorneys from Dacheng introduced to the participants unique cultural events organized within the firm, using pictures, texts and music to illustrate these events. Attorneys Li Yifan and Guan Qi told stories of bike rides from Sichuan to Tibet and around the Taiwan Island; attorney Tao Yusheng recalled colorful activities organized by Dacheng’s labor union; attorenys Li Shoushuang, Gao Meili and Li Guangbao, who are the editorial board members of “Dacheng Life” and “Dacheng Law Review”, familiarized the participants with the two in-house publications; attorney Jiang Rongqing briefly introduced the past three Dacheng Cup football games and the two Mundiavocat World Cup games Dacheng either organized or took part in; attorney Qu Xia described how Dacheng Reading Club worked and attorney Lv Liangbiao recommended three books, i.e., Road of Dacheng, The Great Game and American Dreams in China. The participants then had a heated discussion on two key subjects: 1) the importance of cultural cultivation in the legal profession and 2) what kinds of cultural events are needed in the profession.   

By having such a cultural tour, the participants got to know each other better, which, Dacheng believes, would shed light on the culture-related endeavors in law firms.
