A delegation from the Brooklyn Law School visited Dentons Beijing office in the afternoon of 29 May. Led by prof. Michael A. Gerber, the visit brought together 40 professors and students from the Brooklyn Law School and the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE).

As part of the visit, a small round-table panel discussion about the Chinese business environment and U.S. China trade relations was held. The discussion was moderated by prof. Michael A. Gerber and joined by Professor Xia Haiquan and Liu Baocheng from UIBE, Liu Debing from Genertec, as well as senior partners Vivien Tuo and Deng Zhisong, and of counsel Frank Niu from Dentons Beijing.

Legal practice in China, Sino-US trade relations and the opportunities and challenges that arise as a result of the trade friction between the two countries were the primary focus for the panellists. Viven Tuo spoke about the history and status quo of Dentons China, and what it is like to practice law in China. Deng Zhisong drew on his personal experience and talked about the impact of EU's GDPR on Chinese and US businesses in Europe. Frank Niu, a seasoned of counsel in dealing with cross-border legal issues, explored new opportunities in China-US trade relations.

Students from Brooklyn Law School showed a keen interest in the development of Dentons China, Dentons’ global network and the experience our partners and associates have accumulated in their careers, and stayed actively engaged in the Q&A session.
