Dentons China’s Moot Court Champions Revealed

Dentons China held the finals of 3rd Annual Moot Court today, and the champions of the four-month long match-up were revealed:

Civil Court Group: Dentons Beijing Civil Law Team
Criminal Court Group: Dentons Nanjing Criminal Law Team

Civil Court Finals

The Civil Court final match-up took place between Dentons Shanghai and Dentons Beijing in the morning. Yang Guang, chairman of Beijing Lawyers Association (BLA) Chaoyang District, acted as Chief Arbitrator, and He Rong, head and a senior partner at Dentons Huangshi, and Teng Hua, a senior partner at Dentons Nanning, as arbitrators.

The lineup of the Dentons Shanghai team comprised three lawyers, Yang Chengcheng, Zhang Shasha, and Zhu Minqing. Dentons Beijing team featured partner Bi Jianwei, legal counsel Cheng Yi, and lawyer Guo Jingwei. The teams debated over a “loan agreement” dispute.

Criminal Court Finals

The match-up of the criminal moot court took place in the afternoon following the civil court debate. The debate was between Dentons Fuzhou and Dentons Nanjing. Pu Guiping, a partner at Dentons Shanghai, acted as Chief Judge, Dai Jinqiang, a senior partner at Dentons Changzhou, and Luo Danxin, a partner at Dentons Chongqing, as judges.

Prosecutor was represented by the Dentons Fuzhou team, comprising two lawyers, Jinguo and Yu Zhen, and Respondent represented by the Dentons Nanjing team, comprising two senior legal counsels, Gu Mingjun and Jin Yan. The debate was over a contract fraud allegation against Mr. Wen.

The teams were able to stay calm under great pressure and presented their arguments effectively and elaborately. They were able to play it by ear and demonstrated a solid foundation on legal matters. The merits of each team were carefully considered, and the moot court champions were announced after the competitions were completed.
